I was playing through some songs today...and came across this Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. This song was really popular in the late 90s and it always moved me to some extent.
But as I sang through the song, the words really got to me. Like I said, recently everything seems to remind me of Faith. I had to fight back tears and emotions while going through the words. Although the song was very much written in Bob's - the father - view, it saddened me a lot and I really could feel what he felt when wrote the song. Going through the phases of his daughter's life, from a child to a teen, to a woman getting married. He depicts the emotions so well just through one moment in his daughter's life. Kneeling beside her when she said her bedtime prayers as a child; watching her getting ready for her sixteenth birthday party; and finally walking her down the aisle, giving her away to another man.
But through all those moments he shared with his little girl (children will always be little in their parents' eyes, even though they've grown up), he remembers the one thing he shared intimately with his daughter - Butterfly kisses. It's when you flash your eyelashes against the other person's cheek and the tickly feeling is similar to being brushed by a butterfly's wings.
Although we'll never get to see or hold Faith on earth here, we must have done something right that God blessed us with her life, albeit short one. Although we'll never feel her hugs, her kisses or even hear her say I love you, (it's sad) but we're glad we did have her in our lives. (I'm tearing up again!)
xoxo
(p/s: thank you to all who have been following this, thinking about us constantly, keeping us in prayers. we wouldn't have made it through with all your support.)

I love that song. I wish we could've gotten some butterfly kisses.
