Of smart-ass cabbies...
I caught a cab to my in law's place to pick up my son, and was planning on cabbing home in that very same cab. The route from my dinner place to my in law's place and my house is, in fact, very short. About 5 minutes drive from dinner place to my in law's and about 3 minutes from there to my house. The cabby missed the first junction that led to my in law's place and when I told him about his mistake, he blatantly replied that the route he was taking was the correct route (which led onto the freeway!!!) I patiently explained that the first junction would have cut across the neighbourhood and get to my destination in just under 5 minutes, and the route that he was taking would take twice the time because it went on to the freeway. He insisted he was right. I gave up... The conclusion was that there wasn't anything wrong with both my route and his. His was just longer. A very simple equation would sum up the situation.
Longer route = longer time = higher mileage = higher cab charges = waste of my time
Needless to say, I alighted at my in law's place and walked home with the baby.
Of irritating salespeople...
Just someone I had the misfortune of having to communicate with at work. Someone who doesn't understand the definition of quarterly review, and so keeps calling every 2 weeks to ask about their outstanding salaries. I'm very careful when I declare monetary figures at work, so I refused to release any numbers until I had a confirmed figure. Apparently this did not sit well with this person, and he/she kept insisting that he/she was not rushing to be paid, but merely wanted to know the figure. (What's the difference?) I'm a person who rarely flares up at work because it gives a bad impression to co-workers that I am hot-headed and rash. But amazingly at 9am this morning, this particular person managed to piss me off. Thankfully, the management was on my side and I got their support. So boo to irritating salespeople!
I'm gonna stop now...getting pretty distracted...(cuddling on the couch with lucas watching Finding Nemo)
